HEREWOOD GABRIEL PROFILE
Herewood is blessed with artistic parents and so following an artistic career was not seen as an unworthy occupation.
In his early 20’s he suffered a crisis of identity and joined a small band of Soul travellers. This led to the formation of a Green monastery which deeply influenced his life and he continued for the next 14 years.
Here he learnt an imaginative and spontaneous approach to painting which is still his favourite method today. However the discipline he was previously taught at Art College gave him the skill and confidence to ground and give structure to his imaginative outpourings.
His green monk years also widened and deepened his concept of spirituality and reconnected him with his joy of life. His bible is Nature and natural ways. He picked up many skills on the way too: Pottery, puppetry, picture framing, carpentry and roofing. Another was a study of Archetypal Psychology, which is too big a subject to elaborate here, but he is currently working on a set of cards and booklet about them.
He continues his Soul journey following his passion for all things creative: Dancing, drumming, painting, carpentry, sign-writing, recycled sculpture and giant lantern making. He also does PA work with autistic children and adults. He lives near Stroud.
